Welcome to CHW Calgary
It has always been my dream to be an inspiration to my friends and, more importantly, to be a role model for my children. I feel that being a part of CHW has allowed me to align my vision with the ability to achieve my goals.
This all started 8 years ago when Lauren Bell approached me to become involved with CHW. However, I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to be part of the leadership in such an incredible organization. I am honored to serve as the 2015-2016 President. Lily Fixler, Sandy Martin and Ruth Ullman have set a high standard and I realize that I have very big shoes to fill.
As I enter this role, I look back and ask myself: “What is my vision of what I would like to see at CHW.” I see us making an impact not only with families, but with our community, our city as well as with Israel. I want us to branch out from being just a women’s organization. I want us to be an inspiration.
In that spirit, my first mission is a welfare initiative for school children in Israel.
I am disturbed by the statistics that as of today, there are 1.75m people that live in poverty in Israel: 817 thousand are kids, 530 thousand family’s don’t have a secured source for nutrition on a daily basis, 570 thousand kids go hungry to school every day, every third child goes to bed hungry at night. The needs are big and my heart is caring.
As CHW’s mandate is to support Israel’s children, healthcare and women, I will focus our efforts on ensuring that we right this wrong. I hope that with your help and the support of the community, we will be successful in this endeavor.
