'Why isn't there a Female General on the Chief of Staff?'
The Advisor for Women's Affairs, and the President of World WIZO, hold a frank discussion at an International Assembly of Women.
The
Advisor for Women's Affairs, Deputy Major General, Gila Kalifi Amir,
and the President of World WIZO, Helena Glaser, met at the AVIV
Seminar, A WIZO Young Leadership Seminar, in which 50 women from all
over the world participated, in a session dedicated to the subject,
"Women who Dare - IDF Women 2010".
Deputy Major General, Gila
Kalifi Amir, who is the Chief of Staff's Advisor for Women's Affairs,
shared, "The army point of view is one of 'Mainstream Gender',
believing that the maximum exploitation of the abilities of women, as
well as men, increases the organizational effectiveness of the army as
a whole, as well as contributing to the women, themselves. Today's
army is providing a wider range of positions, according to the
capabilities of each female recruit."
Helena Glaser, the
President of World WIZO, facing the young soldiers who had come to the
Seminar, said, "There are still no women sitting on the Chief of
Staff. You can convince the army that you are good enough. We want to
see Gila in the unit of the Chief of Staff, or any other woman who is
suited to the task.? Women should be in higher ranks, surely generals,
but more women should have the rank of Major General or Deputy Major
General."
