Myriam Libratti Memorial Fund
Recognize your mother through a donation to the Myriam Libratti Memorial Fund.
Nathalie Guez has established the Myriam Libratti Memorial Fund in recognition of her mother, Myriam Libratti z'l, with all proceeds going to Hadassah Hospital. Myriam worked for many years as a midwife, 10 years of which were at Hadassah Hospital assisting women in the maternity ward.
Nathalie is a Montreal-based sculptural artist who completed her studies in architecture and design in Israel. Nathalie has created a unique armchair piece that is dedicated to Myriam's memory.
The armchair, seen right, represents maternity. The outlines of the upholstery, "defines a woman carrying a child, an embryo, the world perhaps, in a very protective position." Nathalie writes in her artist statement that,"The armchair invites role-playing, the kind that often occurs between parents and children. We can sometimes be the child, being carried by the softness of the fabric and the comfort of the seat, but we can also be the parent seated in a comfortable breast-feeding armchair."
A stone rendition of the sculpture will be placed in a special garden that is at Hadassah Hospital, coincidentally called Myriam's Garden. This area, which is located behind the maternity building, is a playground for children and is used by many as an area for relaxation and reflection. The sculpture, titled Myriam, is dedicated to all mothers.
Donations at all levels are appreciated. Please note that for a $500.00 gift to the Myriam Libratti Memorial Fund, donors can recognize their mother by listing her name on a collective plaque to be located by the Myriam sculpture.
