Canadian Hadassah-WIZO (CHW) Montreal will be honouring well-known artist Tom Hopkins at their upcoming art auction on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Espace Reunion.

Featuring over 45 artists in a variety of mediums, the evening promises a selection of highly sought after Canadian art as well as emerging artists through both silent and live auctions. These include works by previous honourees Yehouda Chaki and Norman Laliberte, Dina Podolsky, Rita Briansky, Frank Caracciolo, Andrew Plum, Lynda Schneider-Granatstein, Katerina Mertikas, and Linda Rutenberg to name a few. The auction will be led by professional auctioneer Neil Horowitz. The event co-Chairs are Sarah Hutman and Alana Shiveck. The wine is being sponsored by Barefoot Wines.
Tom Hopkins was born in Summerside (P.E.I.), in 1944. He studied at Mount Allison University and completed his M.F.A. at Concordia University (1987) where he taught from 1983 to 1997. Throughout his career, his seductively textured work has enjoyed both critical and public acclaim and can be found in many important collections across the country. Tom Hopkins has been a contributing artist to the CHW Art Auction for many years.
For more than 90 years, Canadian Hadassah-WIZO (CHW) - a women's volunteer organization - has been dedicated to the support of Children, Healthcare and Women in Israel and Canada. Projects we've funded in Montreal include the Montreal Children's Hospital, LOVE (Leave out Violence), the Missing Children's Network, and women's shelters.
