March of the Living

Each year - thanks to your generous gifts - we sponsor students at the CHW Netanya Technological High School so that they can participate in the March of the Living, a two week, once-in-a-lifetime experience that takes place in Poland and Israel. Hundreds join this march each year to commemorate two of the most important dates in Jewish History. On Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) students participate in a three kilometre march from Auschwitz to Birkenau as a silent tribute to victims of the Shoah. Last school year, we were able to send 30 students!

These students were selected based on their interest, academic performance and ability to handle this emotionally demanding trip. This year, we have added a very exciting new dimension to the CHW March of the Living, especially for our supporters! We will follow two of the students, Eli and Jeniya, through their participation in the program, from classes to the actual March. We want you to be able to learn with them. And to read, in their own words, how this experience impacts their lives.

Eli and Jeniya will blog regularly and will share in their own words life's ups and downs. Even though English is not their 1st language we want you, our supporters, to have an authentic connection with the students and so will not be editing their words.
