Message from the President

Alana Shiveck, CHW Montreal President

It's been a busy first four months for me as Montreal Center president!
I have enjoyed meeting many of our members and supporters whether it was at one of our functions or visiting chapter meetings.
In September, I had the pleasure of attending my first Theodor Herzl bridge luncheon which was not only a first class event and very well attended but also the first function I attended in my new capacity as Centre President.
The Nurses Council Health Forum at the JGH was both informative and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with women I hadn't seen in a while.
In October, 200 people attended our annual art auction, where we honored Helen and Jacques Bellefeuille. The evening was a huge success, surpassing last year's earnings. We are in the midst of planning for next year and are already excited about what lies ahead.
Attending the National Convention in Toronto was really enjoyable. And it truly lived up to its promise giving all delegates an opportunity to "reflect, renew and rejoice".  We were very proud to have three Montrealers voted onto the National Board of Directors: Roslyn Joseph, Cookie Epstein and Susan Abramowitz.
Our Chanukah council meeting was a lovely gathering filled with holiday food and singing. It was a chance to catch up with one another and with what's been going on at CHW.
Our 2011 Annual Campaign wrapped-up and we are pleased to report that we closed the month of December on such a high note!
As we begin the new year of 2012, there's already so much in the planning:
We already have an outreach program scheduled for parents and grade 11/CEGEP-age students in February. The Shoshanim and Chaverot Passover basket committee has started to brainstorm and the Reuven Feuerstein chapter has an amazing speaker planned for May.
I look forward to welcoming new members, as well as seeing so many of the women that make CHW such a special organization. Golda Meir once praised Lillian Freiman as "a symbol of what a proud Jewish woman should be". I think that the women of CHW of today are following in her lead.

Best regards,

Alana Shiveck
