Welcome to CHW Montreal
As we head into the summer months, I am very excited to share news with of the amazing programs we have run these past six months in addition to what we have coming up.
These past months have been busy at CHW Montreal. In January, we launched CHW New Connections, a new initiative dedicated to innovative programming for women in their 20s and 30s. Since then we have held two Pilates nights for young professionals as well as a Shavuot pop up dinner in conjunction with The Wandering Chew based exclusively on recipes from the newly released 14th printing of A Treasure For My Daughter. Stay tuned for Boot Camp and cooking classes in the Fall. In February, we launched our Annual Campaign. Your support helps ensure that “Today’s Dream is Tomorrow’s Reality”. Thank you if you have already contributed. If not, please return your pledge cards today. If you prefer, you can make your donation online by clicking on the Annual Campaign link on this page. In March, we volunteered at Le Cafe, a kosher soup kitchen run out of the Cummings Center, where we served over 225 meals to members of the Montreal general community. In April, the members of the Shoshanim and Chaverot chapters assembled and delivered over 500 Kosher for Passover baskets netting $30,000 profit in support of our projects. In May, the members of the Reuven Feuerstein chapter hosted a thought-provoking evening on the subject of domestic violence and relationship abuse lead by author Monique Polak who discussed her book So Much It Hurts which was inspired by her personal experiences. Over $2,000 was raised to support CHW’s hotline and women’s shelter in Israel, bringing to the forefront the importance of discussing abuse, its impact and prevalence in all socio-economic groups. In June, over 100 people attended a very successful screening of the award winning Mexican film Nora’s Will hosted by the members of the Theodor Herzl chapter. Finally, in June, members and friends of the Anna Zaitchick chapter raised over $21,000 in their 3rd annual 5 km “Walk In The Park”. Yasher Koach to all of these ladies for continuing to put their energy, drive and passion into raising much needed funds in support of Children, Healthcare and Women. Well done!
The team of professionals and volunteers at CHW Montreal has been hard at work planning exceptional programs for the upcoming summer and fall months. We have some milestones coming up and we are looking forward to having you come out and celebrate them with us. Join us on July 10th for the 40th anniversary of our Annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Enjoy a spectacular day on the Hillsdale links in addition to food, drinks, raffles and more, all in support of youth through CHW’s schools, as well as LOVE Quebec, a local youth violence prevention program. On September 10th, we invite all Mahjong and Bridge players to join us for our 30th Annual Tel Hai Bridge & Mahjong Luncheon at Elm Ridge Country Club. On October 1st, we invite you to experience our Art Soirée at the Galerie De Bellefeuille. On October 22nd, the members of our Nurses’ Council will be hosting a Health Forum dedicated to Autoimmune Diseases. In November, we are hosting a “Cocktails and Manicures” evening. This is just a sample of some of our upcoming events. Please click here for a full list of our upcoming events. Whether you are young, or young at heart, we hope that you will join us for these exciting programs. Please feel free to contact our office at 514.933.8461 to find out more.
On a more somber note, as I write this, we are devastated to learn of the tragic fate of our boys. The One Family Fund has put up a website to send letters of comfort, support and solidarity to the families of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach. May their memories be a blessing. Please take a few moments to click here and send a letter. Thank you.
We look forward to continuing to work together in support of our many projects benefiting Children, Healthcare and Women. May we continue to go from strength to strength. Wishing you a wonderful summer.
