Welcome to CHW Montreal
As we head into Fall and prepare to welcome a New Year, I would like to bring your attention to the wonderful work that took place over the summer. The summer months were very busy at CHW Montreal. On May 14th, the members of the Reuven Feuerstein chapter hosted a thought-provoking evening on the subject of domestic violence and relationship abuse lead by author Monique Polak who discussed her book So Much It Hurts which was inspired by her personal experiences. Funds raised support CHW’s hotline and women’s shelter in Israel, bringing to the forefront the importance of discussing abuse, its impact and prevalence in all socio-economic groups. In May and June our New Connections group hosted two Pilates nights to engage young professionals. On June 1st, members and friends of the Anna Zaitchick chapter raised over $21,000 in their 3rd annual 5 km “Walk In The Park”. On June 10th we participated in a Shavuoth Themed Feast in conjunction with The Wandering Chew. Participants were treated to a delicious menu comprised of recipes entirely from our newly released A Treasure For My Daughter. On June 16th, over 100 people attended a very successful screening of the award winning Mexican film Nora’s Will hosted by the members of the Theodor Herzl chapter. On July 10th we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our Pro-Am Golf Tournament. We enjoyed a spectacular day on the Hillsdale links in addition to food, drinks, raffles and more, all in support of youth through CHW’s schools, as well as LOVE Quebec, a local youth violence prevention program. On September 9th the CHW Young Professionals hosted an apple-themed cooking class. On September 10th, over 230 Mahjong and Bridge players joined us for our 30thAnnual Tel Hai Bridge & Mahjong Luncheon at Elm Ridge Country Club. And finally, in September we celebrated Rosh Hashanah with our beautiful annual chocolate tin sales to contribute to a sweet new year for the beneficiaries of our programs here and in Israel. Yasher Koach to all of our ladies for continuing to put their energy, drive and passion into raising much needed funds in support of Children, Healthcare and Women. Well done!
This summer was a difficult one for our family in Israel. During the war, CHW projects absorbed displaced families seeking safe shelter. Our Emergency Campaign was extremely helpful and we continue to raise funds to help them meet the costs incurred. Thank you if you have already contributed. It is not too late to help. To support the Emergency Appeal, please visit www.chw.ca to donate online or call the office at 514.933.8461.
