Message From The President

Dear Members;

It's my honour writing this message to you as your 42nd President of CHW Toronto Centre.

I have been a member of WIZO in Brazil and Canada for the past 25 years. I brought my personal achievements from WIZO Brazil and World WiZO with me to Canada. Ten years ago when I arrived in Canada from a distant country, the only reference I had was Hadassah-WIZO. I became very involved with CHW and I decided to join Gila chapter. Gila and Hadassah-WIZO became my extended family as I don't have any family in Canada. My career as volunteer with CHW flourished quickly. With many Bazaars, Youth Aliyah, WIZO Services, 2 trips to Israel and four National Conventions, I am ready to be President. As I reflect on the past year, I know we have seen many changes. We face the challenge of the recession. We lost a key leader and have completed an executive transition. It has not been easy. And, there is much work to do. But I also know that while these challenges are new, we will meet them.

Since 1917, CHW has met many challenges with our membership's hard work, commitment, dedication and our love for Israel. These are the pillars of our organization's history. These are the values of our organization's tradition. And these are the forces of our organization's success.

For the last 92 years, CHW has supported the needs of many children and women in Israel, helping them integrate into Israeli society. As keeper's of CHW legacy, we must transmit and carry forward with these principles.

In the next two years, CHW Toronto Centre will concentrate on three main areas: Membership, Education, and Fundraising with particular attention on the role of young leadership. They are our future! Dor L'Dor, from generation to generation. Our Membership remains the core of our organization. My goal will be on promoting a team culture and fostering chapter camaraderie. I will support you in any way I can to carry out your chapter projects.Our Education strategy will build on our past initiatives. I aim to see ongoing coaching for committee chairs so that they can be that much more effective. I am committed to ongoing training for our next generation of leaders.

For our critical fundraising aims, we must remember that our intention is to raise funds to provide material and emotional support for those who are in need in Israel. We ask you to make a personal donation to our ANNUAL CAMPAIGN every year. By sustaining our projects in Israel, you are supporting the children and youth and giving them hope - and a bright light at the end of the tunnel. I urge you all to increase your generosity, and your fundraising efforts with CHW. With your help we CAN make a difference, and we CAN do so with love, care, and hope.
