Welcome to CHW Vancouver
So 2015 has arrived, and with it many new opportunities for CHW. We are
working hard to try and ensure that Vancouver Centre will have as strong a growth year in 2015 as we did in 2014.
As you know, Vancouver’s own Claudia Goldman was installed as National President late in 2014, and we know that she’ll be an integral part of the success stories in 2015. Last year, as 2014 wound to a close, we hosted our final event of the year. The “Meducation” presentation on cardiology was informative and interesting, and we’re grateful to Dr. Michael Epstein for having shared his wisdom with us. We also took the opportunity to honour Claudia with a “Mazel tov!” cake, and to present to her many tributes that arrived from all over the country. Photos of the event will appear in our upcoming “Highlights” newsletter.
Much of CHW Vancouver Centre’s growth in 2014 came from our very successful annual campaign. We’re in the process of gearing up for that again. “Big needs, caring hearts” is the theme for the upcoming 2015 Annual Campaign. We know that our loyal and dedicated members will step up to the plate in the same way as they did last year and help us have another stellar campaign.
Our Pro-Am golf tournament is another staple and favourite in our fundraising arsenal. We’re aiming for a bigger and better tournament than ever, with a slightly different structure for the 2015 event taking place on July 13th. In order to increase our revenue, we’re hoping to enlist the help of the men in our community – many of them have more business connections and networks than some of us women do. We’re appealing to all members to tap into all resources and help us find potential sponsors, patrons, advertisers and donors for the event. Please ask your husbands and sons if they can make suggestions, or, better still, secure new sponsors for us. We’re leaving no stone unturned so that we can consistently increase our fundraising capability as the needs continue to grow.
Pro-Am is only one item on what promises to be a full agenda for 2015. In addition to Pro-Am, we shall hold our second annual “Walk in the Park” event on Thursday, June 4th 2015 from 6.00 – 8.00 pm. Mark the date on your calendar, and start making your long, long lists of the folks who can sponsor you!
Our council closing event will also take place in June. Throughout the year we shall continue to host our “Meducation” event series, and we have other interesting, exciting evenings planned. Themed dinner parties may be in the cards, and “pop-up” events are to be scheduled too. If you have an idea for a centre event, please share it with us – reply to this e-mail with your suggestions, we’d be delighted to receive them.
I look forward to keeping you updated throughout 2015.
