Welcome to CHW Vancouver
With the all the yamim tovim over, it’s time to seek excitement elsewhere. We’re happy to announce a number of upcoming events that we’re really looking forward to.
On the night of November 4th, we’ve scheduled our special shopping night at Armadillo boutique. Join us (from 7.00 – 9.00) for a night of fashion and fun at Armadillo boutique at 7912 Granville St (at 63rd Ave) to get your fall wardrobe in order. Every purchase supports CHW – 10% of everything sold at the event will be donated to CHW projects.
We also wanted you to know about the screening of the short documentary “My Herzl”. This fascinating film will be part of the Vancouver Jewish Film Festival and will be shown on Sunday November 9th at the 5th Avenue theatre at 3.30. “My Herzl” is proudly co-sponsored by Paul and Claudia Goldman in honour of Esther Matlow z”l, past National President of Canadian Hadassah-WIZO, and her son, producer David Matlow, in recognition of their strong support of the State of Israel. We hope you’ll make a point of seeing it.
Also coming up in November is the next talk in our “Meducation” series. Cardiologist Dr. Michael Epstein will provide the latest information and insight on issues pertaining to heart health. The event will take place at the brand new Beth Israel synagogue on Oak St, so join us on November 25th at 7.30 to hear a fascinating talk AND get a chance to see inside the new Beth Israel. We will also be having a very short Council meeting at 7.00, prior to the event. There will be a place for friends, spouses and significant others to wait while we quickly take care of business so bring them along. Although there is no charge for this event, please call or e-mail the office to register as we do need to know how many of you will be attending.
As was the case in 2013, the year will end on a high note with Tsabbar Chapter’s Chanuka Ball. The event was a huge success last year, and we can’t wait to enjoy this year’s festivities. The date is confirmed for December 13th, and tickets ($40) will be available from the office or from your friends in Tsabbar Chapter. Buy your tickets soon to avoid disappointment as people were turned away from the sold-out event last year. Great company, excellent food, song and dance, and, of course, suvganiot! It’s all good!
Hope to see many of you at these fall events.
