WIZO YOUTH CLUBS
CHW contributes annually to World WIZO, which runs 40 After School Clubs serving over 20,000 students throughout Israel. After the school day concludes, these clubs offer educational programs, recreational activities, and hot meals to Israel’s youth. Many students who visit these clubs come from unstable home environments. Programs include sports, music and art, and are offered free of charge for those who cannot afford to pay.
Programs being offered include:
Life Skills classes include topics such as “Healthy Relationships” and “Drug and Alcohol Awareness”.
The Leadership Program caters specifically to adolescents in order to encourage their active role in the community. Additionally, a Leadership Program desgined specifically for girls is being offered with the goal of empowering women.
Weekly Lectures on various topics pertaining to the needs of youth in that particular area, such as divorce and body image issues.
Programs for Immigrants offer activities that aid with the integration process as well as promote culture, such as Ethiopian cultural events where culture is taught through food, music and dance.
Army Preparation Program aids 17 and 18 year olds in their preparation, both mentally and physically, for their upcoming army service.
Learning Centre assists children with their homework and helps those with learning disabilities. Volunteers work with the children as tutors both one-on-one and in small groups.
Academic Courses in Hebrew, English, Computers, Math, and Science are also offered.
