This week marks the celebration of Chanukah and the lighting of a candle each evening which represents the miracle that took place in in the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Rebellion.
Each of CHW’s projects has its own special way of celebrating this holiday. The daycares invite the parents to light the candles together and the youth villages host their annual Chanukah party!
On every evening of Chanukah, the dormitory children come together to light the menorah on the youth village.
CHW’s Daycares have invited the parents to the daycare to light the Chanukah candles together. Each of CHW’s six daycare centres are hosting a Chanukah party with desserts, lighting of the candles and celebrations!
Every Friday the daycare hosts Kabbalat Shabbat services. During the services, the children are taught about Jewish traditions and customs. Parents are invited to take part in these services. Each week a different boy and girl are selected to be the “Father” and “Mother” of the Shabbat service. This brings the families and daycare closer together.
