Sukkot is a fun and joyous holiday! This holiday marks the end of the Jewish people’s wondering in the desert for forty years as well as the celebration of the harvest. Many people build “sukkahs” on this holiday; this is a structure covered in plants such as palm leaves. In CHW’s daycares, in CHW Hadassim, Nahalal, and Netanya the children build sukkahs where they spend their free time, have classes, and eat meals!
Every Friday the daycare hosts Kabbalat Shabbat services. During the services, the children are taught about Jewish traditions and customs. Parents are invited to take part in these services. Each week a different boy and girl are selected to be the “Father” and “Mother” of the Shabbat service. This brings the families and daycare closer together.
